The short Spring Festival has past, so we should devote ourselves to our jobs again. The Spring Festival is a Chinese traditional festival and there are lots of traditional customs. Such as giving children luck money, pasting spring poems, shooting of fireworks and visiting relatives. We can get together with the relatives and friends that we can’t gather with at ordinary time because of working. After the Spring Festival, there is coming another traditional festival, called the Lantern Festival, which is the first important day after the Spring Festival. It is on lunar January fifteenth. Lunar January is the first month on the lunar calendar.

In ancient Chinese, the night called xiao. In addition, the fifteenth also is the first night with full moon. Therefore, it is called the Lantern Festival. In that day, people will enjoy the traditional customs such as enjoying the lanterns, dragon dance, lion dance and eating tangyuan which stands for reunion and wishes everything perfect in the coming year.

Skipjack Tuna Prices Trend in Thailand

The prices of skipjack tuna in Thailand kept fluctuating by year. Its highest level US$1,250.00 per ton appeared in 1998 and lowest level US$ 400.00 per ton in 2000, and the average price was on decrease trend. Apparently the Thailand prices were stronger than those in Africa.

The price of Thailand Skipjack Tuna has fallen to its lowest level USD 800.00 per ton in January 2010 after 2006 about USD 600.00 per ton, later recovered to its highest level USD2, 350.00 per  

ton between June andJuly 2012. The average prices in Thailand remained higher than those in Africa.2013 was a tough year for the Thai canned tuna industry due to declining demand from major markets in the USA and the Middle East and high raw tuna material prices, which peaked at almost USD 2,400.00 per ton in April 2013.

However, after that peak, prices started going down till April 2014, but there was still a peak about USD2,000.00 per ton around July.

In Feb. 2015, frozen skipjack price in Bangkok market, indicative international price, is strongly expected to remain flat at USD1, 050.00 per ton for a while.
