Russia bans  seafood imports from EU, US, Norway, Canada, Australia

As the  international tension worsens over sanctions against Russia, Russia is moving  to introduce a one-year ban on food imports from the European Union, the US,  Norway, Canada and Australia who support the sanctions.

The ban will be  in place on 7th Aug., with the custom codes for fresh fish, frozen  fish, crustaceans and mollusks all included on the list of banned products.  They will be in place for a year or until the sanctions against Russia are  lifted, as president Vladimir Putin

ramps up his opposition to the west.The government  has already implemented some measures to stimulate the supply of fish by  Russian companies to the domestic market in state contracts, such as offering a  15% preference for such contracts. Based on those balances that exist now,  Russia exports more than import, which has already made it “almost impossible”  for a foreign company to win one of these tenders.
